NOIDA: Around a hundred persons were arrested by police for protesting outside Samsung factory outlet in Noida phase 2 amid a massive protest on Tuesday.

According to the protesters, the protest was staged as the local residents including farmers and youth demanded increased employment of local residents in company's plant. The protest by staged under the banner of Centre of Indian Trade Unions (CITU) and Kisan Sabha, with more than 100 activists gathering at the plant and staged protest in the afternoon hours of Tuesday. However, the activists were pacified by police party and they were restrained to enter the factory premises.

“Since past many years we have been demanding that local youth should be given jobs at factories set up in Noida and Greater Noida. The state government has also promised that the Children of farmers whose land is acquired should also been given job but the multinational companies do not provide jobs to local youth,” said one of the protesters.

“We also demand increased monthly wages for the workers as the wages which the state government is providing cur- rently do not even fulfil the basic needs” another protester said. There occurred a tussle between the protesters and police party and police arrested 80 persons under Indian Penal code section 151 when the activists tried to approach Samsung Factory. “We have arrested them for disruption of peace as they had held a protest without prior approval,” said Rajpal Tomar, SHO, Phase 2 police station.
