Man who faked his death for 15 years finally arrested

NEW DELHI: Crime branch has arrested a man who was not just absconding for 15 years but has also faked his death and prepared his death certificat­e to dodge the police.

He was wanted for planning and assembling for dacoity. The accused, Madan, was wanted for the offence in Paschim Vihar.

On 17 August, specific informatio­n was received by crime branch that in the evening accused Madan would be visiting his native place village Dhudhli, district Shamli, UP. The police team took swift action on the informatio­n and at 7.30 pm, it apprehende­d Madan from his village Dhudhli.

“During interrogat­ion, the accused disclosed that he was arrested in the above-mentioned case in 1999 and after being bailed out he was not attending the court proceeding­s. Due to this, he was declared a Proclaimed Offender in 2003. Later,

During his hiding, he also supported his family financiall­y and also helped his son to run a garment shop at Gorakhpur. The police said that accused is an illiterate and used to commit the crime outside Delhi NCR from his native place.

He was involved with bad elements since long and is a habitual criminal. He used to commit theft and snatching and disposed of the stolen articles for easy money.
