NEW DELHI: A hotel management graduate working as a manager at a reputed hotel has been arrested for stealing a car from a parking lot in Connaught Place.

His friend has also been arrested. Police said that 21-year-old Isha Monga, a resident of Paharganj, conspired to steal the car after his father refused to give him the car keys on Independence Day. His friend Akshay Arora has also been nabbed.

The matter came to light when a Gurugram resident came to watch a movie in PVR, CP, but afterwards he couldn’t find his car in the parking lot. He approached the cops and the parking attendant was questioned who said someone had taken his parked vehicle by producing the parking slip.

This puzzled the cops and he was asked to remember any other vital detail.

During the investigation, the parking attendant revealed that somebody had stolen his parking slip machine on the day of the incident and thereafter one person came to him and produced one parking slip of the vehicle and demanded

the keys of the car.

In support of his need for the vehicle, the stranger made a phone call to another person presenting him to be the owner of the vehicle for assurance. The parking attendant then provided him with the keys of the vehicle.

Three days after the incident, the vehicle was found at Safdarjung Enclave in accidental condition. A letterhead of a five-star hotel then led the police to the doors of the accused.

“The duo confessed to the crime. They stole the vehicle to go for a joyride on the Independence day. The accused is proficient in three languages and is also an event manager,” said Madhur Verma, DCP, New Delhi.
