Why was my father killed, he was not a criminal: Daughter

NEW DELHI: At Sangam Vihar block number L, more than 50 women were sitting near the house of deceased cab driver Umesh, who was shot dead on Saturday, to console his family, the nine-year-old daughter was in the lap of her mother and she was telling her mother not to cry.

The girl raised a genuine question that why her father was shot dead as he was not criminal? “I was awake from the night when I heard about the news. Uncle told my father will return but I came to know about his death in the morning. I also want to ask the killer why they shot him dead,” said the nine-year-old girl who studies in the government school. The girl further stated that she came to know that her father was shot dead for accidental­ly brushing past the car, it was no reason to kill him.

The family of four members including three minor children had been left with no bread butter earner. “My husband was the only person who earned for the family after his death how we will survive,” said Geeta, deceased's wife. The deceased's brother claimed that Umesh had a very humble kind of nature and never used to fight with anyone. “A few days ago I met him last time, he just asked about the health of the mother and then went for work,” his brother added. The family alleged that they did not get any help from the police. Even no one visited their house. The family was living in Kotla Mubarakpur area and recently shifted to Sangam Vihar. Umesh who was working as a cab driver went to Gurugram in the morning with passengers and returned back to Delhi. He was in Kotla Mubarakpur when the incident took place. “In the morning he used to go and return back in the night but on Saturday he did not return,” added the wife.
