DELIVERY OF DOORSTEP SERVICES: CM WARNS AGAINST ANY LAPSES

‘Some officials delay application to take bribe in lieu of getting job done fast’

NEW DELHI: Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, who himself is monitoring the scheme of doorstep delivery of services to the citizens of Delhi, on Tuesday, issued strict orders to all the Cabinet Ministers on the implementation of the scheme. The Chief Minister has directed that no case submitted by the mobile sahayaks to any of the departments be rejected by the department without the approval of the minister-in-charge.

The present government feels that various cases are rejected at the lower levels on the pretext of one or the other ‘discrepancy' in the application for the purpose of taking a bribe in lieu of getting the job done or getting the case/ application approved. “This scheme is not only aimed at facilitating the citizens in getting services done at their own convenience but also targets to end corruption at various levels in the government departments. Every rejection should have the approval of the concerned minister-in-charge and the said approval must be taken within 24-hours of such decision,” said an official.

The CM also directed that time limits prescribed for the delivery of the services under the scheme must be adhered to in totality & strictly.

The government of the day has a zero-tolerance policy against corruption and the new scheme would prove to be a masterstroke in weeding The Chief Minister has directed that no case submitted by the mobile sahayaks to any of the departments be rejected by the department without the approval of the minister-in-charge

out corruption. If any of the request/application is delayed under this scheme, it would be taken as an attempt to sabotage the pro-people scheme to further one's corrupt practices. All the Head of the departments/ secretaries have been directed to personally monitor and ensure strict adherence of the time limits in the delivery of services,” said an official.

The violation of time limits be taken very seriously and a disciplinary proceeding will be started against the guilty officer and the officers supervising the said officer. The Hod/secretary of the department would also be held responsible in such cases. The CM also directed that a report of all such cases delayed must be reported to him on a daily basis.

By 5 pm on Tuesday, the total number of calls regarding doorstep services connected were 13,783. Out of these 4,758 calls were answered by the executive handling the call centre. Rest of the calls were on waiting line and are being called back. SMS were sent to 8101 callers whose calls were not answered and are in process of being called back.
