NEW DELHI: It is not always a feasible idea to seek help from strangers at ATM. Who knows if cheaters are waiting for an opportunity to strike. In a recent incident, the Delhi Police on Tuesday has arrested two cheats for fraudulently cheating a man at Nizamuddin after engaging him in talks. The accused then exchanged his ATM card and noted down the PIN number very cleverly. Later, the duo took out Rs 27,000 from his account.

Soon after the incident, the man filed a complaint at Nizamuddin police station in South East Delhi that he has been cheated at one of the ATMS in the area after he went to withdraw money. He recalled that a youth tried to help him swap his card at the ATM but failed to get money. Later, when he returned home he got a message on his mobile that Rs 27,000 has been withdrawn from his account.

During the course of the investigation, the CCTV footage of SBI ATM booth, West Nizamuddin, was procured and analysed. The CCTV footage of the approaching roads was also obtained and it was found that the suspected persons came on a Splendor Motorcycle. The registration number led the cops to Karawal Nagar.

The man told that this bike is used by his relative in Loni, Ghaziabad. “Our team then arrested the accused Nadeem and upon his interrogation, another accused Javed was also arrested,” said DCP South East, Chinmoy Biswal.
