Wanted rewarded criminals nabbed by Ghaziabad police

GHAZIABAD: The Ghaziabad police has arrested two wanted criminals, carrying a bounty of Rs 25, 000 each on their head from Kavi Nagar area. Police said that the accused were wanted in the murder case of a priest at Nardeshwar temple in Ghaziabad in 2017.

According to police, the arrested accused have been identified as Ashok Giri from Behraich district and Avadh Ram from Shravasti district of Uttar Pradesh. Both the accused were at large for past one year and the police had declared a bounty of Rs 25, 000 on each.

“Acting on a tip-off, the arrest was made from ALT bus stop in Sanjay Nagar area of Ghaziabad on late Monday night. The accused were wanted in a murder case of a priest at a temple about a year ago and a manhunt was launched to arrest them. Apart from the murder case, the accused were wanted in a number of heinous crimes across Ghaziabad and nearby districts,” said Vaibhav Krishna, Senior Superinten­dent of Police (SSP), Ghaziabad. Police said that the two criminals had murdered Naseen Giri alias Sitaram, the priest, amid a robbery of jewellery and money from the temple on 29 April 2017. A case under IPC sections 302 (murder), 120B (criminal conspiracy), 34 and 2/3 gangster act was registered at Sihani Gate police station of Ghaziabad.

Police had earlier arrested their accomplice, Deepak, carrying a bounty of Rs 25,000 from Ghaziabad in connection with the same incident.
