Police rule out robbery angle in head constable's murder

NEW DELHI: The Head Constable Ram Avtar who was murdered on Tuesday night was carrying just Rs. 110 that has been found intact in his pocket.

This shows that the motive of the attack on Ram Awtar was not robbery giving police a thrust to investigat­e the murder from other angles as well.

The Head constable left his mobile phone at home too before he went out to get some flour from a local mill.

“We have formed several teams to investigat­e the murder. Right now much details couldn't be shared with the media,” said Deputy Commission­er of Police(south East) Chinmoy Biswal.

Police is talking to the neighbours, relatives and family of the deceased to get any clue about the murder.

The cops are trying to ascertain if it was a planned murder where the assailants waited outside for the head constable or it was a result of some on the spot altercatio­n.

Cops are gathering the local intelligen­ce to speed up the identifica­tion of the accused.

“He was on duty at Hotel Leela palace from Tuesday morning till evening where a foreign delegation had come.

“He went home after completing his duty straightaw­ay, he was from Karauli in Rajasthan and is survived by his wife and two children. His parents also stayed with him ” said a senior Police officer.

After the post-mortem, which was conducted at All India Institutes of Medical Sciences, his body has been sent to his hometown for the last rites.
