There will be no fee enhancement in future, assures Haryana CM
GURUGRAM: Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar on Thursday held a press conference in Chandigarh, where he mentioned about the achievements, challenges and future initiatives to be undertaken by his government.
The Chief Minister conceded that the enhancement fee is the major challenge and it has been a difficult task to appease homebuyers and farmers whose lands were acquired for development.
It is important to note that the difficulties of enhancement fee are mostly felt in Gurugram where a large number of government sectors came in 2003 to 2010. This was the time where there was a boom in the realty market in Gurugram. The situation changed when the farmers whose land were acquired realised that owing to the valuation, their lands were not compensated well by the public agencies.
This resulted in most of the farmers approaching the court where they were able to get the verdict in their favor.
To pay the farmers, Haryana Urban Development Authority (HUDA) had to pay the increased fees that have amounted to lakhs. Hundreds of homebuyers, who are still in the process of paying their loans have expressed their displeasure and protested against the move. Increased agitation resulted in the Chief Minister finally taking cognizance of the situation.
Simultaneously due to government intervention, the allottee has provided a bit of reprieve to the homebuyers by reducing the amount a bit. Yet, this has still not resolved the matter.
