ACP booked for raping woman, crime branch to probe case

NEW DELHI: A woman residing in Sadar Bazaar in North Delhi has levelled allegation­s of rape, blackmaili­ng and kidnapping against a Delhi Police ACP Ramesh Dahiya. The accused is posted with security unit of Delhi Police presently. The woman, in her complaint, has alleged that Ramesh Dahiya who was earlier posted as Station House Officer (SHO) of Sadar Bazaar frequented visited her house as he knew her husband.

The woman alleged that after the demise of her husband in March 2017, Dahiya kept visiting her house and one day raped her in her house. The woman said that she felt dizzy after she had a cup of tea with Dahiya. When she woke up she found herself on bed with the SHO. He later threatened her of dire consequenc­es if she revealed the matter to anyone.

The woman further alleged that Dahiya claimed to have filmed the rape on his mobile and blackmaile­d her for either giving in to his lustful demands or he would make the video public.

The woman also stated that Ramesh also proposed marriage with her and kept visiting her often and physically exploited her. However, the woman says that one day when she was not at home Ramesh molested her daughter too. This led to a fight between the two. The woman later went to the Sadar Bazaar police station and lodged a complaint with the police. The woman has alleged that he misused his position while harassing her. She was threatened with dire consequenc­es if she tried to report the matter. She also alleged that the ACP also kidnapped her son.

The woman also approached the senior police officers for registrati­on of the FIR. It was only when the matter came to the knowledge of the senior cops, a case was registered.

“A case has been registered under 376, 328, 506, 363 of IPC and the POCSO Act and crime branch is investigat­ing the case,” said a senior police officer.
