To kill Sunita, accused trio hatched elaborate plot: Cops

NEW DELHI: Before his wife Sunita was shot dead by contract killers, Manjeet, his paramour Angel Gupta and Gupta’s ‘father’ Rajeev prepared a map of the road that Sunita travelled by to reach the school where she taught.
These were some details, revealed by Delhi Police on Friday, of the elaborate plan hatched by the three arrested accused to bump off 38-yearold Sunita in Bawana last Monday.
Cops added they have also arrested Rajeev’s driver Deepak, who served as a middleman between the two contract killers and the arrested trio. They also revealed that Manjeet had met Angel, a (Left to right) Accused model Angel Gupta and Manjeet
model, at a pub some time ago, after which they started an affair. This led to marital discord between Sunita and Manjeet.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Rohini) Rajneesh Gupta told Millennium Post said the trio had last met on October 23 to hatch the plot to murder Sunita.
“We have recovered a diary in which the deceased had written that her husband wants to get rid of her. It was either through divorce or her death,” said the DCP.
He added that after deciding to kill Sunita, Manjeet prepared a map of the route that Sunita travelled by to reach the government school in Auchandi border in Haryana where she was a teacher.
Cops further said that the accused trio claimed they had paid an advance of Rs 2.5 lakh to Deepak, who was arrested from Uttar Pradesh, for the murder.
“On Monday, when the victim left home by scooty to go to her school, Manjeet alerted Rajeev. We suspect that the alert was given via missed call, and then Rajeev gave the signal to the shooters at the spot.
“The shooter then fired her at Sunita and fled,” said an investigator.
Cops claimed that Manjeet was waiting for confirmation of the shooting, which he received from the hospital where she was taken.
Eventually, on Thursday, Manjeet, Angel and Rajeev were arrested.
“During questioning, Manjeet and Rajeev blamed each other for the crime. They thought they will not get caught, but the circumstances and Sunita’s diary led to the arrest,” said the investigator, adding that they have launched a hunt for the contract killers.
They are also probing whether Manjeet was involved in a case of immoral trafficking.
Meanwhile, the backgrounds of Angel and her socalled father Rajeev are also being examined.
