SDMC approves online policy for household industry

NEW DELHI: SDMC on Thursday gave its nod to online policy for issuance and renewal of

license under category of house hold/service industry. The policy had been pending for the

last so many years. While giving details of the policy, Standing Committee Chairperso­n Shikha Rai said that for sanction and renewal of licence, the rules and provisions of the MPD 2021 will be applicable under which in any sanctioned floor out of 112 type of house hold industries, one will be allowed over 50 percent of the area wherein 5kw electricit­y connection will have to be sanctioned and up to five workers will be allowed to work there.

Up to 2010, only ground floor's 25% area was allowed for setting up the household industry, henceforth the same can be establishe­d over 50 percent area in any floor. It is essential that the owner must reside therein the building where household industry is being set up. Pollution generating household industry will be prohibited.

Rai added that the household industry to be set up under the new policy will create employment opportunit­ies for thousands of persons and it will pave the way for the economic prosperity of a large number of families. A total of 112 type of allowed household industries includes Agarbatti, Medicines other than Allopathic, Electronic items, Sewing machine, Typewriter, Atta Chakki, Biscuit, Candles, Sweets, Jute products, Computer software, UPS, PVC, khadi and Handloom, Photosetti­ng, Pan masala, Zara zardozi, toys etc.
