SDMC ap­proves on­line pol­icy for house­hold in­dus­try

NEW DELHI: SDMC on Thurs­day gave its nod to on­line pol­icy for is­suance and re­newal of

li­cense un­der cat­e­gory of house hold/ser­vice in­dus­try. The pol­icy had been pend­ing for the

last so many years. While giv­ing de­tails of the pol­icy, Stand­ing Com­mit­tee Chair­per­son Shikha Rai said that for sanc­tion and re­newal of li­cence, the rules and pro­vi­sions of the MPD 2021 will be ap­pli­ca­ble un­der which in any sanc­tioned floor out of 112 type of house hold in­dus­tries, one will be al­lowed over 50 per­cent of the area wherein 5kw elec­tric­ity con­nec­tion will have to be sanc­tioned and up to five work­ers will be al­lowed to work there.

Up to 2010, only ground floor's 25% area was al­lowed for set­ting up the house­hold in­dus­try, hence­forth the same can be es­tab­lished over 50 per­cent area in any floor. It is es­sen­tial that the owner must re­side therein the build­ing where house­hold in­dus­try is be­ing set up. Pol­lu­tion gen­er­at­ing house­hold in­dus­try will be pro­hib­ited.

Rai added that the house­hold in­dus­try to be set up un­der the new pol­icy will cre­ate em­ploy­ment op­por­tu­ni­ties for thou­sands of per­sons and it will pave the way for the eco­nomic pros­per­ity of a large num­ber of fam­i­lies. A to­tal of 112 type of al­lowed house­hold in­dus­tries in­cludes Agar­batti, Medicines other than Al­lo­pathic, Elec­tronic items, Sewing ma­chine, Type­writer, Atta Chakki, Bis­cuit, Can­dles, Sweets, Jute prod­ucts, Com­puter soft­ware, UPS, PVC, khadi and Hand­loom, Pho­to­set­ting, Pan masala, Zara zardozi, toys etc.
