TWO HIZBUL MUJAHIDEEN MILITANTS NABBED FROM J&K

They were in Contact with NAVED Mushtaq, A Kashmiri Cop-turned-militant

NEW DELHI: Special Cell of Delhi Police on Sunday claimed that they have apprehende­d Hizb-ul-mujahideen militants including juvenile from Shopian District of Jammu and Kashmir. The investigat­ing agency claimed that they were in touch with one Naveed Babu, a Kashmiri policeman turned militant.

The accused, identified as Kifayatull­ah Bukhari and a juvenile in conflict with the law, nabbed at a special Naka setup near village Narwaw in the area of Shopian police station.

A case was registered at Shopian police station under section 307 Ranbir Penal Code, 7/25 IA Act, 16(B), 18 ULA(P) Act. The local police helped Special Cell in their operation.

Deputy Commission­er of Police (Special Cell) Pramod Singh Kushwah claimed that they are working upon identifyin­g and apprehendi­ng the modules inspired by ISIS and terrorist of HM who are procuring weapons from North India.

"It was learnt that these modules off lately are strength- ening their cadres in Jammu and Kashmir and planning to extend their activities in Delhi and nearby areas," said DCP.

"During the onset of this year, a specific input was received by Special Cell regarding the movement of HM militants in NCR for procuring sophistica­ted small weapons. It has been learnt that small weapons for executing target killing are difficult to arrange in J&K and the HM militants are procuring the same from the NCR," said DCP Special Cell.

The militants were in contact with Naved Mushtaq, an ex-constable also known as Naveed Babu, a resident of Nazneenpor­a of Shopian, south Kashmir.

"He had joined J-K police in 2012 and was serving as a police constable before joining militants. He decamped with four weapons in 2017. He is district commander of HM," said DCP Kushwah.

He further claimed that during this ongoing operation, an undergroun­d hideout (believed to be of Naveed Babu) which can accommodat­e 4-5 militants at a time was also identified.

According to police on January, two militant of ISISJK — Parvaiz Rashid Lone and Jamsheed Zahoor Paul — both residents of Shopian, Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) — arrested by Special Cell near Red Fort along with arms and ammunition.

And on November 24, three active militants Tahir Ali Khan, Haris Mushtaq Khan and Asif Suhail Nadaf were also arrested on the informatio­n of Special Cell in Srinagar with hand grenades and weapons.
