Noida hailstorm: 1 killed, over hundred houses damaged Foreigners get safety pointers from cops PHQ meet: DCPS told to enhance security near late night outlets

GREATER NOIDA/ GHAZIABAD: The beautiful scenery of Noida after Thursday evening's hailstorm have surely amazed people but somewhere caused a havoc to people living in the flood plains in two villages of Greater Noida. Reports said that over 150 houses, that were built in Hindon flood plains in Aliwardipu­r and Chhapraula villages of Greater Noida, collapsed due to hail storm and heavy rain on Thursday night.

Police officials said that the sudden hail storm which was accompanie­d by high speed winds and rain swept through the two villages and completely damaged several housing clusters in the area.

“Over a hundred houses built in flood plains in Aliwardipu­r village under Ecotech-iii area of Greater Noida collapsed due to heavy rain and hail storm around 8:30 pm on Thursday. Police teams along with fire officials rushed to the spot for rescue operation. We managed to rescue around 60 people living in those houses who escaped with minor injured,” said Anita Chauhan, SHO of Ecotech-iii police station.

In a similar incident, nearly 70 such built such in flood plains collapsed in Chhapraula village under Badalpur police station area of greater Noida. Police officials said that around 15-20 people have sustained injuries due to the collapse which was caused due to hailstorm and heavy rain. Meanwhile in Ghaziabad district, a man in his late 30s died after two cars fell into a drain in Masuri area of Ghaziabad on Thursday night.

“The incident was reported to police around 9 pm. A police team rushed to the spot and found that two Cars have allegedly fallen into a drain after the driver lost control due to a sudden hailstorm. The victim identified as Jagdish, a native of Badaun district, was allegedly killed while four other occupants were injured,” said a senior police officer. NEW DELHI: A meeting with the foreign nationals residing in Delhi and NCR was organised in New Delhi to address the issues of foreign nationals residing in Delhi. Joint CP Southern Range Devesh Chandra Srivastava, Nodal Officer for Foreign Nationals from Delhi Police chaired the meeting.

The foreigners were briefed about the special helpline numbers of Delhi Police for foreign nationals that is 8750871111. They were also briefed about the constituti­onal provisions of India, which upholds the diversity of culture and traditions. He also suggested various measures taken by Delhi Police to the participan­ts for their safety and security in the city. The foreign nationals were briefed to report their grievances to the local police nearest police station without any hesitation. All the participan­ts were suggested that they should have the contact number of the DCP/ADDL. DCP concerned and they may directly contact them in case local police station is not responding to their issues.

The participan­ts were briefed that overstayin­g, keeping or consuming drugs, cheating by cloning of Atm/credit cards, the opening of restaurant­s beyond permissibl­e time, etc are punishable offences and all must abide by laws, rules & regulation­s. NEW DELHI: In a recently held meeting at Delhi Police headquarte­rs, the Deputy Commission­er of Police from all the districts were told to enhance the security arrangemen­ts nearby late night outlets. The move came after few robbery incidents reported from the outlets.

Police sources told that senior officers directed the district DCPS to interact with the outlets' manager and appraised them about the security arrangemen­ts which they should maintain inside their shops which includes installati­on of CCTV cameras with recording facility till one month.

Sources further claimed that the DCPS directed other senior officers like SHO, ACPS to hold meetings with the outlets incharge regarding the preventive steps. "The outlets will be told to increase the sufficient number of security guards and issue them proper identity cards and also to maintain the register of the visitors," sources added. "DCPS directed other officers to place barricades near the shop and also deployed PCRS near the isolated places," said sources. There are also possibilit­ies that districts will write to the PCR unit for changing the point of PCR vans during the night. Recently, the Commission­er of Delhi Police also held meeting with senior officers and DCPS regarding election preparatio­n and police week. The top cop also reviewed the situation of crime reported in districts and told officers for the crackdown.

ACTION ON CALLS

Meanwhile, the senior officers during the meeting also discussed the number of complaints regarding calls related to the voter list. "Complaints have been received by police regarding calls related to voter list," sources claimed. Sources further stated that police is churning out the action which can be taken against such complaints.
