178 fly­ing squads likely to keep a tab on Lok Sabha elec­tions in city

NEW DELHI: There might be 178 fly­ing squads to keep a tab dur­ing Lok Sabha elec­tions in Delhi. The Delhi Po­lice head­quar­ters had asked dis­tricts re­gard­ing the iden­ti­fi­ca­tion of po­lice of­fi­cials for de­ploy­ment in fly­ing squads and static sur­veil­lance team. Sources told Mil­len­nium Post that from Delhi Po­lice head­quar­ters a let­ter was sent to all dis­tricts in which it was writ­ten that it’s pro­posed to de­ploy 178 fly­ing squads (one from each po­lice sta­tion and which will be in­clud­ing head con­sta­bles and con­sta­bles) and 178 static sur­veil­lance team (one

“Po­lice per­son­nel may please be iden­ti­fied and in­for­ma­tion thereof for­warded to Dis­trict Elec­tion Of­fi­cer con­cerned as well as Elec­tion Cell/ PHQ by Jan­uary 25 on a fol­low­ing for­mat, fur­ther writ­ten in the let­ter,” sources claimed.

The for­mat con­sists of Name and Num­ber of Par­lia­men­tary con­stituency, As­sem­bly con­stituency, po­lice dis­tricts and sub­di­vi­sions etc. “The po­lice per­son­nel who were iden­ti­fied for the pur­pose may not be sub­sti­tuted for petty rea­sons af­ter they have un­der­gone train­ing,” added the sources.

Re­cently, the Delhi Po­lice head­quar­ters (PHQ) had asked all the dis­tricts to con­duct proper check­ing in booths in their area where the pre­vi­ous elec­tion was held and sub­mit the re­port to them.po­lice sources told Mil­len­nium Post that the dis­trict DCSP have asked con­cerned ACPS and SHOS to con­duct a thor­ough ver­i­fi­ca­tion of elec­tion booths and sub­mit the re­port to them as soon as pos­si­ble.
