PM to send out mes­sage of clean­li­ness from Ku­ruk­shetra on Fe­bru­ary 12

CHANDI­GARH: Prime Min­is­ter Naren­dra Modi will send out a mes­sage of clean­li­ness from the land of karma, Ku­ruk­shetra on Fe­bru­ary 12, dur­ing the Swachh Shakti-2019 pro­gramme. This pro­gramme is ded­i­cated to women.

While giv­ing this in­for­ma­tion on Sun­day, an of­fi­cial spokesman said that about 7,500 women rep­re­sen­ta­tives from across the coun­try and 15,000 women Panches and Sarpanches from across the state, are par­tic­i­pat­ing in this pro­gramme.

He said that in or­der to em­power women, Modi had first launched the Swachh Shakti-2017 pro­gramme from Gu­jarat, Swachh Shakti-2018 from Luc­know in Ut­tar Pradesh and the third Swachh Shakti-2019 pro­gramme is be­ing in­au­gu­rated from Ku­ruk­shetra in Haryana.

He said that un­der this mis­sion, the Cen­tral Govern­ment and the state govern­ment has, so far, re­leased Rs 122.69 crore and Rs 169.75 crore, re­spec­tively to Ur­ban Lo­cal Bod­ies. In or­der to pro­mote clean­li­ness, the state govern­ment has im­ple­mented Swach­hta Shehri Puraskaar yo­jana, un­der which the best Ward in Mu­nic­i­pal Corporation ar­eas would be awarded cash prize of Rs 2

lakh for its san­i­ta­tion ef­forts, best Ward in Mu­nic­i­pal Com­mit­tees with cash prize of Rs 1

lakh and best Ward in Mu­nic­i­pal­i­ties with cash prize of Rs 50,000. He said that in the cur­rent fi­nan­cial year 2018-19, Rs 75 crore was ap­proved in the re­vised bud­get.

He said that women com­ing to this pro­gramme would be in­formed re­gard­ing ef­forts to fur­ther em­power the women of the state. Un­der which, they would visit women hockey nurs­ery, Kal­pana Chawla mu­seum and women po­lice sta­tions. He said that the mes­sage of san­i­ta­tion and clean­li­ness has reached the pop­u­la­tion of the state.
