Delhi CM lays foundation stone for construction of 2 new flyovers

-

NEW DELHI: The Delhi Government is going to construct two new flyovers to deal with the heavy traffic jams on Shastri Park and Seelampur Chowk, which are included in Delhi’s two busiest intersections. Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal laid the foundation stone of this project here on Sunday.

Shastri Park flyover will be six lanes, while the Seelampur flyover will be two lanes. These two flyovers will become a signal-free corridor from ISBT to Shahdara and those who travel from Kashmiri Gate to East Delhi will get great relief. Last year, the Government of Delhi’s Expenditure Finance Committee approved this project. The projected cost of this project is Rs 303 crores.

“This project will reduce the travel time of 4.5 minutes and save 13,802 of human labor which will save Rs 14 lakh daily. This project will save 2,625

liters of fuel, saving Rs 4.97

lakh daily. From this, the cost of the flyover will be recovered in four years,” said a government spokesperson.

Congratulating the people of north-east Delhi on this occasion, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said that the AAP government, despite the ‘obstacles’ by BJP government, is going to make the new flyovers. These flyovers will provide great relief citizens and further become signal free corridor from Shahdara to Kashmiri Gate ISBT. The Chief Minister, while addressing the residents, said, “You voted for BJP MPS at all seven seats in Delhi in the last elections, but these lawmakers instead of working for public welfare, worked to constraint working of the AAP government functions.”

He further urged resident to vote for AAP in upcoming Lok Sabha polls ‘so that the public welfare can be done 10 times efficiently and faster.’
