NEW DELHI: Aam Aadmi Party leaders on Thursday met the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Ranbir Singh, which included Saurabh Bhardwaj, Atishi and Raghav Chadha. “Aam Aadmi Party leaders stressed that they strongly believe that the votes of millions of people have been cut in an incorrect and illegitimate manner. Lakhs of new votes are registered every year in Delhi, and the total votes must increase every year. Chief Electoral Officer agreed that total votes in Delhi have decreased from year 2018 to 2019,” said AAP chief spokesperson Saurabh Bharadwaj.
He also said the the Election Commission has agreed the demand of Aam Aadmi Party that within a week, in all the places in Delhi, special camps will be organised in all government schools to restore the voter whose names have been deleted wrongfully .Election Commission will also promote this mega drive in Radio etc. “Election Commission also admitted that strict action will be taken against those officers who have wrongfully deleted genuine voters,” he said.
The AAP said that if the voters are being informed that their voter registration have been deleted from the Voter list, then they are fulfilling social obligation, this work should be primarily done by the Election Commission so that people can restore their votes.
“This awareness campaign should have been started by Election Commission in the first place,” Bharadwaj said.
