Police extend all help– from counselling victims to assisting the deceased family

NEW DELHI: From counselling the fire victims to assisting the families of the deceased, the Central Delhi Police team came out with all effort in the rescue operation in the fire incident killing 17 persons inside Karol Bagh's hotel blaze. In the RML hospitals, special desks were put up for assisting the people who were in distress after the horror. All the senior police officers including Joint Commissioner of Police (Northern range) Maneesh Agarwal, DCP (Central) Mandeep Singh Randhawa and Add DCP (Central) Amit Sharma were keeping tabs on every single development in the incident.

“After the rescue, we counselled the victims as they were in complete trauma and shock. Once they felt comfortable and normal we asked them about their details and informed their family members,” said DCP (Central) Mandeep Singh Randhawa. At RML hospital Add DCP (Central) Amit Sharma was seen handling the situation. Some policemen were sitting in the shed with papers in their hand and were seen assisting the families of the deceased. After the incident, police had clicked the photographs of all the victims in the case. Most of the families hailed from different states and also countries.

At the hospital, police were seen assisting the foreign nationals. “When any family came to us we showed them the photographs and once they were able to confirm the photo are they taken inside the mortuary for identification followed by matchup of details which were given in the hotel,” said police officer.
