Woman succumbs to swine flu in Noida

GREATER NOIDA: A 26-yearold woman resident of Nirala Estate residentia­l society of Noida Extension succumbed to swine flu in late Tuesday night at a private hospital in Noida. Police said that the postmortem reports have confirmed H1N1 virus to be present in the body.

According to police, the female patient was married around an year ago and was living with her in-laws in the society. On Tuesday night, she was admitted to Kailash hospital in Noida with symptoms of cough and cold. However she died while getting treatment.

“Hospital staffers informed police and the body was taken to custody. The postmortem reports have confirmed death due to swine flu,” a senior police officer of Bisrakh police station said.

Similar swine flu cases were reported earlier also. In September last year, a 59-year-old resident of Allahabad who was staying with his son in Sector 99, Noida died of multiple organ failure at Fortis hospital of Noida. He was admitted with symptoms of cough and cold while later he died during treatment. The postmortem reports also confirmed presence of H1N1 virus.

Health experts said that the symptoms of swine flu are similar to common cold, including high fever, cough, cold, breathless­ness, headache, nausea and loss of appetite. They have suggested that the precaution­s include washing hands properly and regularly, using sanitisers, especially those that are alcohol-based, and avoiding crowded places. A person must immediatel­y visit and doctor if cold and fever persists for more than three days.
