Arvind Kejriwal has deliberately thwarted PMAY in planned manner: Vijender Gupta

NEW DELHI: Delhi Government's 52,584 houses for poor remain unallotted for the

last six years getting dilapidated and material removed by thieves, said Delhi BJP

leader and Leader of Opposition Vijender Gupta on Saturday.

Gupta said that the Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has deliberately thwarted the implementation of the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojna (PMAY) in a planned and sustained manner over the last four years. The scheme is aimed at providing affordable housing to economically weaker sections of society including Delhi's Jhuggi Jhompri dwellers.

"Aam Aadami Party's promise during the Lok Sabha election campaigning of providing affordable housing to every family in Delhi within 10 years is abso

lutely hollow. Its falsehood can be gauged from the fact that having come to power more than four years back on the promise of providing house to each J.J. Cluster family, it failed to construct even a single house for them," he said.

Gupta added that not only this, it failed to allocate about 18000 built up flats to J.J. Cluster families. “Thousands of poor families deposited huge amounts beyond their means by borrowing from the moneylenders in the hope of getting their own house. But today, they find themselves entangled in web of moneylenders. Such a political party which could neither build flats for poor people nor could allocate the builtup flats for J.j.dwellers can be expected to meet its promise of providing house for everyone,” he said.

Meanwhile, Delhi BJP chief Manoj Tiwari slammed Aap-congress alliance failure. Tiwari said that the Aam Aadmi Party in the year 2013 used to abuse Congress President Rahul Gandhi, Sonia Gandhi and Sheila Dikshit and also claimed to have a charge sheet of 370 pages against Sheila Dikshit but today he is not ashamed of begging of alliance with the Congress Party. “Kejriwal's eagerness to form an alliance with Congress in Delhi is an insult of a massive mandate given by the people of Delhi. The people of Delhi voted against Congress Party and brought CM Kejriwal to power but the Aam Aadmi Party is trying to form an alliance with the same party which is clearly politics of opportunism,” he said.

Tiwari has also expressed his grief over the death of a 25 year old young Pranab Mishra in Sonia Vihar in an accident at Signature Bridge. He has held Delhi Government responsible for this and demanded sufficient compensation.
