Social entrepreneur is JJP candidate from Gurugram
GURUGRAM: The Jannayak Janta Party has named Mehmood Khan as its candidate from the Gurugram seat. Mehmood Khan works as a social entrepreneur, previously working as the Global Leader of Innovation Process at Unilever.
Mehmood was born on June 5, 1954 in the village Nainangla, Mewat, India, Mehmood studied at HAU Hissar (19701975), where he gained a BSC Honours in Agriculture and then went on to a do Post Graduate Programme in Management at the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad (IIMA-1975-77). Mehmood has development experience at IIMA, Bharatiya Agro Industries Foundation (BAIF), and Punjab Cooperatives.
Mehmood has 41 years of experience including 27 years in Unilever in various International positions, with postings in India, Singapore, the Netherlands and the United Kingdom. Mehmood is Founder President of the IIM Network in Europe and is a Managing Trustee of the Rasuli Kanwar Khan Trust, which is transforming lives in rural Mewat
and across India.
Currently working as a Social Entrepreneur, he is chairing 2 organisations and is a board member in another 2 organisations. These enterprises are focusing on Education, Entrepreneurship, Sustainability, Women empowerment, Innovation, Livelihood, Skills, Capability building programmes.
It is anticipated that Khan who has gained popularity through his social works may get a sizeable number of votes from Mewat area. With the addition of Mewat belt in 2009, the complexity of Gurugram seat has only increased. The Ahirs form the maximum percentage of voters at 17% which is then followed by Meo Muslims at 13, the other voters in the belt are Jats, Punjabis, Brahmins, Baniyas and Gurjars.
