Man held at IGI after fake visa found Affixed to original visa Documents

NEW DELHI: Even after having an original visa, Raju Kamat was not able to visit Iraq in search of a job as he was arrested for having another fake visa in IGI airport on March 21. Police said that the accused told them that he never travelled with the fake documents to another country.

According to police, Raju was intending to depart to Iraq from IGI airport. He had an original visa with him but when he went for checking, an official found that a fake visa was affixed on his passport page which was valid till 27 June 2018.

"The fake visa did not have any security features," the complainant told the police.

He was handed over to the police and during interrogation, it was revealed that one of his friends had provided him with the visa but also told Kamat that it was fake.

"The accused told us that he had never travelled with the fake visa as it was a risk but after that, he prepared original visa with proper documents but the fake visa remained in his passport," said an official.

When asked about his friend who prepared a fake visa, Kamat further said that he did not know about his whereabouts but he is an Indian.

Police said that Kamat further told him that he wanted to go foreign country in order to get job.

The team under ACP (IGI) Abhishek is probing the case from all angles. Deputy Commissioner of Police (IGI) Sanjay Bhatia said that they are probing the angle whether any big racket is behind such illegal activity.

The accused has been booked under section 474 and section 12 of the Passport Act. Recently, IGI Police busted a gang who induces people on the pretext of arranging VISA and sending them abroad. The law enforcement agency recovered 62 passports of different persons issued from various RPOS and 28 fake immigration stamps of different countries and banks.
