Pregnant woman dies, husband injured as car rams into their bike

NEW DELHI: A pregnant woman died in a road accident in North West Delhi's Jahangirpu­ri area after the motorcycle in which she was travelling was hit by a car. The investigat­ing agency said that her husband was also injured in the incident.

Police said that they received a PCR call in the evening around 5.30 pm on March 21. The complainan­t in the case was 24-yearold man Jitender (husband of the deceased). He told the cops that he along with his wife Sugandhi was travelling from Noida to Nangloi on the motorcycle. "They were returning to their home in Kalyanpuri area after meeting their relatives on a bike," said police.

The investigat­ing agency further said that at about 5.30 pm, when he crossed Mukandpur flyover, a white car hit them from back and fled the scene. The impact was such that the husband-wife duo fell on the road and was injured. "Deepak was unable to note down the number of the car which was involved in the incident," police said. His wife Sugandhi had received serious injuries in the incident and she was declared dead after both of them were taken to hospital. Broken by his wife death her husband said that he cannot tell what happened with them.

A case under sections 279 (Rash driving or riding on a public way ) and 304A ( Causing death by negligence) of Indian Penal Code was registered at Jahangir Puri police stations.

Reports were also coming that in a few weeks the couple might have celebrated their wedding anniversar­y but the incident took away all the happiness from them. Police are searching for the accused in the case and investigat­ion is on also going on from all angles.
