50 financially weak students denied admission by Ggn private schools

GURUGRAM: With the admission process for the new academic session in progress, the private schools in Gurugram continue to face flak over their non-transparent procedures for admission of students.

In the latest controversy, 50 students have been denied admission in private schools. There are over 1000 students that get admitted under section 134- A on yearly basis in Gurugram

The failure of the private schools to comply with the norms have resulted in the miffed parents approaching the office of deputy commissioner for assistance.

Despite the assurance given to them, the disappointed parents claim that they are being taken for a ride by the private school management that is working in unison over the denying admission to the poor students.

A major reason cited for the Private schools not displaying their list of vacant seats online is to charge higher admission fees due to the limitation of seats in their schools.

Another reason cited for the Private schools not being transparent is to prevent Economically Weaker Section (EWS) students in getting admission in their schools.

Besides, not displaying the exact list of vacant seats online, there are also complaints against private schools of not being fully open about various components of the fees structures.

There has also been a complaint against a private school in the city which had asked parents to pay the amount in admission through hard cash.

“The state education department holds the power to cancel the license of the schools if they do not follow the law but we do not want to take such harsh measures on the schools,” said an official from the education department.
