NEW DELHI: A boy preparing for SSC examination was stabbed to death in North Delhi's Wazirabad in the wee hours of Monday as he stepped out of his rented accommodation to have a cup of tea at a friends place in the same neighbourhood.

28-year-old Shivkant Yadav was talking to his friend on his mobile when it is said that he was intercepted allegedly by two men, who stabbed him multiple times.

Since it was 3 am in the morning there was not much movement in the lane and the assailants fled after stabbing him.

The motive of the attack remains unclear as the victim's mobile phone was found intact.

“After getting injured Shivkant Yadav called his friends on phone who came to help him. He was then taken to the hospital by his friend on a two-wheeler. He was later referred to another hospital where he was declared dead. We are waiting for the post mortem report for the final conclusion,” said DCP North Nupur Prasad.

According to police, some initial leads through CCTV cameras are being examined.

The call records of the deceased are also being analysed to know any foul play. Shivkant, a resident of Aligarh came to Delhi in 2014 and was preparing for SSC exams in Wazirabaad.

It was during the night he planned to have a cup of tea with his friend who stayed at walking distance in the lane opposite his.

The attack happened while he was on move talking to one of his friend on mobile.

Police has formed several teams to arrest the accused.

The family of the deceased has been informed and the body has been sent for postmortem.

Was it a snatching attempt gone wrong due to the victim's resistance or it had some other angle is a matter of investigation.

Cops say that once the assailants are arrested the motive would be clear.
