Review security of Delhi Police establishments: Police Commissioner tells senior officers
NEW DELHI: The Delhi Police Commissioner Amulya Patnaik has directed officers to review the security of police establishments.
Sources revealed that officials were also told to brief their staff to avoid single-use plastics in offices and police stations. Police sources said that the directions were issued during a crime review meeting held at Delhi Police Headquarters.
Sources said that CP directed the officers that security review of police establishments, complexes, police stations and police colonies should be done on priority basis and it should be ensured that all security measures are put in place.
The top cop further added that adequate staff should be deployed at the gates of police colonies. Necessary identification and searching, frisking of persons entering police establishments should be done.
"Vehicles entering in all police establishments should be thoroughly checked by staff equipped with inverted mirrors. Access control should be improved and unnecessary entry points should be closed," top cop further directed officers.
Pending investigation
In the meeting, the top cop reviewed the progress of disposal of pending investigation cases and found that some districts are faltering on this front. He directed that the ACSP of districts should be specifically tasked in this regard.
“District DCSP should start a special drive for disposal, particularly ensuring timely disposal of rape & POCSO act cases. Senior formations should review these cases at their level. Special CP (crime) should also hold periodic meetings of district DCSP in this regard," the top cop said.
Single-use plastic and cleanliness
District DCSP were told to brief their staff to avoid single-use plastic in offices and police stations. The top cop also discussed on the topic related to the cleanliness of police stations and other police establishments.
The district DCSP were told to pay personal attention to the cleanliness of police complexes, colonies and shabby boards, signboards of police stations, police colonies and police booths should be replaced and repainted.
Centralised Malkhanas of districts should also be appropriately got cleaned and maintained.
