Kamal after the marriage. A month into the marriage, both hatched a conspiracy to kill Ravi.
Kamal roped his driver Ganesh Kumar to help him in kidnapping and murder of Ravi and promised him Rs 70,000 for the job. As per their plan, Shakuntala insisted Ravi that she wanted to visit her sister's house at village Samalkha in Southwest Delhi. Both the accused were in the nearby area of deceased's house and waiting in the car. When they saw husband-wife coming, Singla called Shakuntala and Ravi to come and sit in the car.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (crime) Joy Tirkey said that after dropping Shakuntala near her sister's house, Kamal took Ravi for a drive saying that he wanted to speak to him in private. After reaching a secluded spot, Kamal strangulated Ravi with a rope. Deceased's father had lodged missing complaint of his son husband in 2011. Same year the case was transferred to Crime Branch.
"Kamal and Ganesh were worried so they dug up the spot where they had buried the body and managed to remove some parts of it as it had already decomposed," said DCP Tirkey.
