NEW DELHI: In a meeting between various agencies working at the airport, the discussion related to the issue of handling of Airport Entry Passes (AEP) was held. Police sources told Millennium Post that the meeting was held between the senior police officers of Delhi Police, Bureau of Civil Aviation Security of India (BCAS) and other agencies. It was related to the preparedness of all the stakeholders in case of any terrorist strike.

"A senior official from an agency raised the issue of threat from insiders working in the terminal buildings. The BCAS was asked to put up a list of such personnel whose AEP has been cancelled. The valid AEPS of such personnel need to be collected back on a regular basis," sources said.

Another member in the meeting said that there are many organizations working at the airport which have a large number of employees and they are not depositing the AEPS of the off duty staff with them. The member further added that there are no clear cut guidelines or SOP regarding the same.

In the meeting, it was also discussed that the employees who are retired, terminated or left at their own are not surrendering their AEPS.

"There is a need to provide space outside the terminal so that various agencies can take AEPS of the off duty staff," member further said. Sources added that an official from government agency informed the members that the issue was already in their notice and they are also working on the biometric or chip-based system access to the Airport.

An official from Delhi Metro raised the issue of verification of the workers engaged in the construction work in and around the terminals of Airport. In reply, Delhi Police officer said that the verification of construction workers of the airport was being monitored.
