Arms supplier arested from Rajasthan

NEW DELHI: Delhi Police special Cell has arrested an interstate rewarded ammunition supplier identified as Jitender Singh from Dholpur in Rajasthan. Two semi-automatic pistols and 105 live cartridges of .315 bore and .32 bore have been recovered from him. He is involved in over 18 cases of extortion, dacoity and robbery, attempt to murder, encounters with police in Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Delhi and Gujarat. He is wanted by Delhi Police since July 2019 and carrying a reward of Rs 50,000 on informatio­n leading to his arrest.

On July 7, the team of Special Cell busted an illicit ammunition traffickin­g syndicate operating in NCR, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Rajasthan, Bihar and Madhya Pradesh by apprehendi­ng two ammunition suppliers Praveen Kumar Verma and Prateek Kumar Verma both residents of Shikohabad, District Firozabad UP and an ammunition receiver Sonu Singh of Rajasthan along with 1250 live cartridges of 7.65 mm and 0.315 bores, one car & one motorcycle. During interrogat­ion, accused Sonu Singh had disclosed that he is working for his syndicate leader Jitendra Singh of Dholpur.

On September 23, two arms trafficker­s Jitender Kumar and Raj Bahadur were apprehende­d along with 26 semiautoma­tic pistols of .32 Bore calibre from Delhi and they too disclosed the involvemen­t of above accused Jitendra Singh in the arms traffickin­g syndicate in the NCR. However, the desperado Jitendera Singh managed to give police a slip during both these operations. “On October 5, specific informatio­n was received in Special CELL/NDR that above named Jitender Singh is seen in Dholpur. He was arrested from the place after a team of Delhi Police zeroed on his location,” said PS Kushwah.

During 2008, he was arrested by STF of Agra (UP) after a shootout. He remained in jail for over 1 year which included his arrest in many cases of robbery, threat, shootout extortion of MP, Rajasthan and Gujarat.
