FOUNDATION STONES FOR SEVERAL SPORTS FACILITIES IN DWARKA LAID
NEW DELHI: People in Delhi will be able to get access to numerous modern sports facilities in the coming two years, as foundation stones were laid for several development projects worth Rs. 292 crore on Monday.
Delhi Lieutenant Governor (LG) Anil Bijlai along with Hardeep Singh Puri, Union Minister for Housing and Urban Affairs, laid the foundation stones of several developmental projects of Delhi Development Authority (DDA) at Dwarka. These include a Golf Course, Sports Complexes, Foot over Bridges, Airport Drain, Cycle Track and Utsav Pandal.
Addressing the crowd, LG Anil Baijal lauded the initiatives of the DDA to execute ten new projects at Dwarka. “The foundation stones were laid on Monday and we hope to complete the projects with utmost quality and in a time bound manner,” he added.
He said that owing to population explosion and fast growing facets of Delhi, the requirements of infrastructure has also increased considerably. “More green areas are needed in Delhi by developing parks replete with art and culture. Non polluting industrial and commercial establishments should be set up to save environment,” he added.
Speaking on the occasion, Puri said, “The government is committed to the overall development of the country and special endeavour is being laid to make the National Capital as World Class City.”
Foundation stones were laid down for a Sports Complex in Sector 8 for Wrestling, weightlifting, boxing, judo and kabaddi. Besides, a Complex in Sector 23 for Football is expected to be completed in 24 months. Foundation stone of a cycle track was laid in Sector 11, while the work for 4 Foot over Bridges is scheduled to be completed in August 2020. The Minister also laid foundation stone of an Utsav Pandal in Sector 10 Dwarka and a Golf Course.
