Delhi Govt, DJB clear projects to clean Yamuna
NEW DELHI: The Delhi Jal Board has cleared numerous projects aiming at cleaning Yamuna. The meeting by Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and DJB Chairman also passed several projects aimed at improving water and sewer network.
“Providing and laying of water line network in the command area of UGR/ BPS at Siraspur. A UGR/ BPS of 12.5 ML capacity is being constructed at Siraspur which will cater water supply requirement of villages
like Khera Kalan, Nangli Poona, Libaspur, Qadi Pur, Ibhrahimpur and Garhi. To provide water supply to these villages a peripheral water line network of the total length 13.42km will now be
laid,” said the statement by DJB. While construction of 5 MGD pump house at Aya Nagar in Chhattarpur Assembly Constituency is to be started and laying of internal and peripheral sewer line of 6,113 meters in Village Aya Nagar under Ghitorni WWTP Catchment area in Delhi is also proposed.
“The proposed project area aims effective abatement of pollution of River Yamuna and its catchment by providing a comprehensive waste water col
lection, disposal & treatment system at Ghitorni WWTP,” said JBL.
Project of replacement of 1500mm dia old PSC West Delhi water main emanating from Haiderpur Water Works –II has also been proposed.
“The existing line has outlived its useful life and is prone to frequent leakages. Number of complaints resulting in wastage of filter water and disruption of water supply has been received at the concerned division. Keeping the same in mind the 12 KM water main is being replaced at an estimated cost of approximately Rs. 50.7 crores,” said a statement by DJB.
On the other hand, DJB is working with officials of Uttar Pradesh government and come to the consensus that will supply raw water to Delhi in lieu of effluent water that will be supplied by Delhi.
