Chhattisgarh contributes 13% to national power, says Shukla
RAIPUR: Chhattisgarh State Power Companies Chairman Shailendra Shukla claimed that said the state has become a power hub, contributing around 12-13 percent to the national power pool.
There is an increase of 474.67 percent in power consumption, reflecting that consumers are deriving benefit of cheap and uninterrupted power supply, he added.
On the occasion of State Foundation Day, Chairman Shukla while detailing about the achievements of state power companies stated that the power generation was just 1360 MW, which over the years has reached 3424.7 MW, recording an increase of 2064.7 MW.
Shukla further informed that due to surplus availability of power, it has created miracles in both agricultural and industrial fields and a sort of revolution has taken place in both sectors.
During inception of state, the numbers of energized pumps were 73,000, which now have increased to 4.5 lakh and farmers are being benefited through these energized pumps round the year. As of now, all 19,567 villages in the state are electrified along with 38,000 hamlets.
Shukla said that Chhattisgarh today is counted among developed states at the national level on issues like plant load factor and transmission capacity. Presently, the state's transmission capacity is 8169 MVA against 1257 MVA during the inception of state which is a 549.80 percent increase. In 2000 the numbers of EHT substations were 27 which now has rose to 120.
