Enraged over love marriage, man shot sister's father-in-law

NEW DELHI: Enraged over their love marriage, a 21-yearold man shot his sister's father in law in North West Delhi on Wednesday. The injured victim along with his younger son chased the accused on their bike and later caught him and his friend. According to police, on the intervenin­g night of November 6-7, they received a PCR call in which caller claimed that two persons with firearms have been apprehende­d at NPL gate number-10 in North West Delhi. Police reached the spot and found two motorcycle­s in accidental condition. Two people identified as Vikas and his associate Mukesh (25) were found to be apprehende­d by police staff.

During investigat­ion, it was found that two persons were also injured and taken to the hospital. "The investigat­ing officer (IO) reached the hospital and collected the MLCS of both the injured persons identified as Inderjeet and his son Ved Prakash. Inderjeet received pellet injury on his back," police said.

Ved Prakash was having abrasions only and was discharged. IO recorded the statement of Ved Parkash wherein he told that he along with his father was going on his bike from Shani Mandir in Vijay Nagar to Khatta Polo road. Meanwhile, he heard the sound of the gunshot and another motorcycle crossed his bike.

"In the meantime, his father asked him to follow that bike and further told him that he was shot in the back by the bike-borne assilants" police said adding that Prakash started chasing the bike. In the meanwhile, the pillion rider took out a weapon from the bag and opened fire upon him but the bullet did not hit him. He said that he did not stop chasing them and near gate number 10 of NPL, his father caught hold of the pillion rider in running bike due to which both the motorcycle­s got slipped. Meanwhile, police staff of NPL also came there and caught hold of both the accused persons.
