GURUGRAM: Chief Minister ML Khattar made a surprise visit to Gurugram on Thursday. He inspected a dump yard site at Old judicial complex. Expressing his dissatisfaction over the garbage not being picked up from the spot, he ordered the officials to levy the fine of Rs 25 lakhs on the agency that has been contracted to pick up the garbage.

The visit of the Chief Minister to a dump yard site was seen in the wake of large number of complaints being received on how the poor waste management system in the city is also contributing to pollution. It is important to note that a large number of vacant spots in the city are being used by the residents to not only dump the household waste but also construction and demolition (C&D) waste.

After visiting the dumpyard site, the Chief Minister surveyed the progress of antyodaya (service delivery centers).

Inaugurated in 2018, Antyodaya SARAL is an initiative to transfer citizen service delivery in the state. It provides more than 400 schemes and services through one digital platform. Moreover, citizens can use the services of 38 departments through a single window.

The Chief Minister has been in Delhi to meet the senior leadership of his party to discuss the cabinet expansion in the second term of his government which is in coalition with Jannayak Janata Party (JJP). According to sources, the Chief Minister very soon is expected to extend the cabinet in the second term of his government.

The Chief Minister had earlier announced that in order to boost the startup system in the city, blockchain technology centers will be opened in the software technology parks of Gurugram. The main objective of these centers will be to enhance the skills of the software engineers and also encourage them to start their own startups.
