DOT asks ISPS to give audited AGR reports Nearly 75,000 BSNL employees have opted for VRS so far: Chairman

NEW DELHI: DOT has sent letters to internet services providers to submit the audited Adjusted Gross Revenue documents up to 2018-19 in Kerala circle and will soon start sending them across the country for compliance of the Supreme court order on AGR dues payment. In letters to the Kerala circle ISPS, the DOT said "The Supreme Court while upholding the AGR definition as defined in the licence agreement of DOT has given a time period of three months within which the judgement is to be implemente­d and compliance reported." In view of this, DOT (HQ) has instructed the offices to complete all assessment­s and reassessme­nt of licencees of Kerala circle and the compliance be reported on documents by November 28.

NEW DELHI: As many as 75,000 employees of Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd (BSNL) have already opted for the VRS scheme which rolled out recently, Chairman and Managing Director of the stateowned telecom corporatio­n PK Purwar said on Thursday.

In all, nearly one lakh BSNL employees are eligible for the Voluntary Retirement Scheme (VRS) out of its total staff strength of about 1.50 lakh. BSNL has pegged its internal target for VRS at 77,000 employees, and the effective date of voluntary retirement under the present scheme is January 31, 2020.

Purwar said on Thursday that the number of VRS optees have reached 75,000. The 'BSNL Voluntary Retirement Scheme - 2019' that was rolled out last week, will remain open till December 3. BSNL is looking at savings of about Rs 7,000 crore in wage bill, if 70,00080,000 personnel opt for the scheme.
