62 fresh Coronavirus infections in CRPF, active cases 231
NEW DELHI: The country’s largest paramilitary force CRPF reported 62 fresh Coronavirus infections on Saturday from a single Delhi-based unit, officials said.
The total number of active cases in the 3.25 lakh-strong force now stands at 231, they said.
Two personnel have recovered from Coronavirus while one succumbed to the infection.
The fresh cases are from the 194th Rapid Action Force (RAF) battalion of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), the officials said.
All the infected personnel have been placed in home quarantine at a facility in Bawana area, they said.
The 31st battalion of the force in Delhi has about 137 positive cases. All personnel are admitted at a quarantine facility in Mandoli area and undergoing treatment.
The maximum rise in cases, at 10, over the last 24 hours has also been reported from the Delhi Metro guarding unit.
Coronavirus positive troops have also been reported at CISF units like Delhi airport (3), Ahmedabad airport (2), Kolkata Port Trust (3) and one at its VIP security unit based at Greater Noida.
The force is tasked to guard civil airports (63 at present) in the country and vital infrastructure in the aerospace and nuclear domain.
The CISF had said on Friday that the medical test reports of one of its Assistant Sub-inspectors posted in Kolkata revealed that he died due to the Coronavirus disease.
The CISF official, posted at the security unit of the Indian Museum in Kolkata, died at the
Calcutta Medical College and Hospital on Thursday.
The BSF had said in a press release said that 30 new Covid cases have been reported from different establishments.
“Frequencies of sanitisation efforts of workplaces/
living barracks have been increased. In addition to the existing apparatus of sanitisation, improvised methods
like water cannons are used for quick disinfection of buildings and establishments. BSF personnel are repeatedly sensitized to firmly adhere to preventive protocols,” it added.
The CRPF also lost a 55-year-old official to Coronavirus last month.
