THUNDERSTO­RM, LIGHTNING KILL 2 AT DIFFERENT PLACES IN UTTAR PRADESH

SULTANPUR (UP): Two people were killed here in the district in separate incidents of lightning and roof collapse, officials said on Thursday. Siddharth Pandey, 65, was killed in Haliapur when he was struck by lightning. In Gosaiganj area, a 70-year-old man Azim died after a thatched roof collapsed on him due to the thundersto­rm, officials said. Both incidents took place Wednesday, they said. At several places electricit­y poles fell down and trees were uprooted. Power supply was also disrupted in many areas in the district due to the strong winds, officials added.

CAR RETURNING FROM WEDDING FALLS INTO GORGE IN SHIMLA, FOUR KILLED

SHIMLA: Four members of a family were killed after their car fell into a gorge in Himachal Pradesh’s Shimla district, a senior state disaster management official said on Thursday. The four were returning to their home after attending a wedding function when the accident took place at 11.30 pm on Wednesday, state disaster management director Sudesh Mokhta said. The deceased hailed from Bholad village in Shimla district. The bodies have been taken to civil hospital Rohru for postmortem.
