PSPCL fines a ‘dera’ Rs 26L for theft of electricit­y

PATIALA: A spokesman of PSPCL disclosed that enforcemen­t wing of Punjab state power corporatio­n limited got a big success when the team caught a direct theft of electricit­y being committed by a dera situated at Bhikhiwind in district Tarn Taran. Spokesman said that enforcemen­t team of Tarn Taran was investigat­ing a complaint regarding the theft of electricit­y in this case. During the investigat­ion team found at the site that the theft of electricit­y was being committed by directly connecting a 300 KVA transforme­r to the nearby HT lines.

He further added that during the checking a huge unauthoris­ed load being used illegally was detected which includes 17 no ac's, 7 no geyser, 4 no motors, 196 no lights and 87 no fans. Sub division officer Sur Singh has sent a notice of 26 lacs rupees as penalty for theft of electricit­y and a FIR has also been lodged in anti power theft police station, Verka Amritsar to take action against the consumer as per law. Punjab State Power Corporatio­n Limited has appealed to all its esteemed consumers to help PSPCL in controllin­g the menace of theft of electricit­y by providing feedback about theft of power for campaign against theft of electricit­y in the state.
