COMMUNAL CAULDRON

-

In the article ‘Mimetic times’. the writer has elucidated the dangers of unbridled communalism now raging in the nation. This madness has infected the entire nation. Thanks to the unending propaganda unleashed by the IT cells and the toxic debates on television channels, otherwise sane and understanding citizens have started believing that there is a real danger to the unity and integrity of India, unless the minorities are put in their place. Social media platforms are inundated with calls for liberating the majority from the tyranny of the minorities who were favoured by the previous government. The sad fact of the matter is many are convinced of this narrative and would think of nothing of unleashing their anger in a destructive manner. Justifying all acts of violence has become more of a rule, rather than an exception. Instead of protesting against the inflation and joblessness the youth have been made to believe that this must be accepted in the interests of restoring the nation to past glory. Quite a large section of the population believes that the BJP will lead India to restore its past glories; failing to realise that time, like rivers, does not reverse its course. Sadly, those who reject these notions are immediately trolled as Jaichands, anti-nationals and anti-hindus!
