SC to hear curative plea against Asthana’s appointment next week
New Delhi: The Supreme Court (Sc)thursday agreed to hear on 11 December to hear a plea challenging its decision to dismiss a public interest litigation against naming Rakesh Asthana as special director of central bureau of investigation (CBI).
There is a bitter feud between Asthana and CBI director Alok Verma, and both have been divested of powers and sent on leave by the centre on 23 October. PTI will be given ₹3,048 crore as an additional assistance from the National Disaster Response Fund (NDRF), officials said.
The Kerala government had sought ₹4,700 crore as compensation from the centre for the damage caused by the floods, which was termed as the worst in a century. At least 488 people died in Kerala due to the rains and floods this monsoon, which hit 14 districts of the state. PTI
