Gov­ern­ment to con­struct 44 roads along In­dia-china bor­der

New Delhi: The gov­ern­ment will con­struct 44 strate­gic roads along the bor­der with China, and over 2,100km of ax­ial and lat­eral roads in Pun­jab and Ra­jasthan, abut­ting Pak­istan, a Cen­tral Pub­lic Works Depart­ment doc­u­ment shows.

This is to en­sure quick mo­bi­liza­tion of troops in case of a con­flict. The re­port comes at a time China is giv­ing a pri­or­ity to projects along its In­dia bor­ders. PTI ser­vices providers to de­clare their goods and ser­vices tax (GST) reg­is­tra­tion sta­tus in in­voices. The mea­sure would check the wide­spread prac­tice of com­po­si­tion deal­ers charg­ing GST from buy­ers and not de­posit­ing it with the ex­che­quer, said an of­fi­cial.

Un­der GST com­po­si­tion scheme, traders and pro­duc­ers are re­quired to pay only 1% GST on goods which oth­er­wise at­tract a higher levy of ei­ther 5%, 12% or 18%. Such deal­ers are also not al­lowed to charge GST from the buyer. PTI
