Airtel offers free hello tunes to prepaid, postpaid users

Telecom operator Bharti Airtel is now offering hello tunes (ring back tones) to its postpaid and prepaid mobile customers for free through Wynk music app, as part of Airtelthan­ks program. The company in a statement said that all 40 million songs from Wynk Music’s library will now be available to eligible Airtel mobile customers as hello tunes without the monthly subscripti­on charge of Rs 36. The benefit will be available to all mobile customers on prepaid bundles or postpaid plans of Rs 129 and above. To get free hello tunes, Airtel users can download the latest version of Wynk Music app and click on the hello tunes icon to set their favourite songs as their ring back tone. Users can set and change their hello tunes as many times as they want and need to renew the free hello tunes subscripti­on through Wynk Music every 30 days.

Facebook-owned photo-sharing platform Instagram is reportedly taking on the popular Tiktok app by adding lyrics to Instagram Stories. Instagram posted a new story with Billie Eilish singing her hit, My Strange Addiction, to show off what the lyrics function will look like, CNET reported. Tiktok, a platform where people can upload homemade music videos of lip-syncing and dance-offs, has become the newest way that young influencer­s can attract fame and fortune. Instagram originally built its audience with still imagery — music is a way to branch out. Instagram Stories’ lyrics feature has already rolled out to apps. To use the feature, users can open Instagram app and select the camera icon on the top left corner of the screen. On the bottom menu, scroll over to Music and choose a song to display on your Insta story. Drag the music bar to the part of the song you want to play.

Amazon’s Alexa to speak in Hindi soon Amazon Echo voice assistant Alexa will soon speak in Hindi, according to an IDC report. The Amazon India team is working to introduce more regional language capabiliti­es in the voice based assistant. Smart speakers and Voice assistants are relatively new in India but gaining immense popularity. Rohit Prasad, Vice President and Head Scientist for Alexa, confirmed that the company is working on infusing regional languages capabiliti­es in Alexa for the Indian Market. “For us, it is a contextual, cultural as well as content-related challenge as the question is not that Alexa just needs to understand Hindi. This part we can do relatively easily but Alexa needs to be Indian when it speaks in Hindi as there are several dialects and accents out there which Alexa has to understand and react accordingl­y,” Prasad said. Domestic podcasting platform Hubhopper has launched Hubhopper Studio for the potential audio content creators in India. Creators can now use the features of the platform to seamlessly record their audio content, get them published widely for free through Hubhopper’s distributi­on network
