Oppo working on under-display camera

Chinese smartphone maker Oppo is reportedly working on under-display camera technology, which doesn’t need a notch, teardrop, hole punch, or pop-up sliding mechanism to leave that edge-toedge display uninterrupted. Vice President Brian Shen has posted a short video clip on Weibo of what appears to be a notchfree prototype. “At this stage, it’s difficult for under-display cameras to match the same results as normal cameras, there’s bound to be some loss in optical quality,” Shen tweeted. “But, no new technology jumps to perfection right away,” it added. In May, Ben Geskin first suggested that Oppo would show a smartphone with an under-display camera. That prediction just came true, The Verge reported. Oppo brought the tease through its official Twitter account. “You are taking a very first look at our under-display selfie camera technology,” the post read.
