Huawei cutting orders for flagship devices

-

Facing tough time after the ban imposed by the US government, Huawei is reportedly planning to cut down on the shipment of its high-end smartphones. According to a report by Digitimes, the Chinese handset maker is reducing the orders of its flagship P30 smartphone series. Earlier, a US retailer B&H stocked the Latin American version of P30, P30 Pro and P30 Lite with one year US warranty. However, post the restrictions announced by the US, B&H has stopped selling these models. The report also notes that Huawei has also started cutting down on the orders of the upcoming Mate 30 series smartphones. The smartphones are said to launch in October and are expected to be the most technologically advanced devices of the company.

Specs-wise, the Huawei Mate 30 Pro is expected to feature a 6.7-inch AMOLED display with a QHD+ resolution. The smartphone is also expected to be powered by the company’s upcoming Kirin 985 chipset and Balong 5000 5G modem chip.

After the US ban, it is also expected that Huawei’s upcoming smartphones may come with its own Hongmeng operating system. It is also likely that Huawei will have its own app distribution platform called App Gallery in these devices. The report also claims

that internally, Huawei expects a decline of 40% to 60% in the international phone shipments. In 2018, the company shipped 206 million units and about half of them were shipped out of China and now the company feels that it will see a total drop of 60 million units this year.n
