has launched a phone with RAM of 6GB and internal storage of 128GB which we were accustomed to see in high priced smartphones and this latest launch goes by the name Tecno Phantom 9. The reach of such features offered by Tecno within affordable price range is surely set to make competition tough for other companies. Design

Tecno has done a complete research of what aspects of smartphone makes it desirable as we can see in Tecno Phantom 9 which looks very beautiful with aurora inspired styling giving three shades of colour to the rear panel which adds to the beauty of the phone plus the micro transversal dots which looks amazing when the phone is tilted. The rear panel sports the triple camera sensor with four LED flash within one frame and below it one can see the model name of the phone printed. The handling of the phone is very easy and comfortable despite its big look and the weight of the phone is very light which is due to the plastic body of the phone. The front fascia of the phone is dominated by the huge display sporting a water drop notch, above the notch lies the ear piece but what is fascinating is that the front side also dual LED flash, each placed on the two side of the notch. The left side of the phone is sporting the SIM tray which is capable of holding dual SIM cards and a microsd card at the same time. At the right side lies the power button and the volume rockers. The top side of the phone is blank whereas at the bottom lies 3.5mm headphone jack, micro USB port and a speaker grille. Tecno for the first time has shifted to in-display fingerprint sensor which is quite an interesting and luring move to get attention of the users. The fingerprint sensor on display works quick and unlocks the phone in fraction of seconds. The face unlock feature is also very fast and accurate.

The new Tecno Phantom 9 holds very impressive display screen of 6.39 inches with

almost full view display and sporting dew drop notch. The screen is AMOLED capacitive touchscreen with 16M colours and the colours produced are very vivid, punchy and bright plus the images on screen looks very sharp. The screen of Tecno Phantom 9 allows you to enjoy any game, video in HD quality on a big screen. The screen has wide viewing angles thanks to the 19:5:9 aspect ratio of the phone. The phone has screen resolution of 1080x2340 pixels. The games played and movies watched while testing the phone resulted in very comforting experience. The screen is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3 which shields the display from minor damages.

The new Tecno Phantom 9 is powered by Mediatek MT6765 Helio P35 processor with octa-cores where four cores are clocked at 2.3GHZ Cortex A53 whereas rest four cores are clocked at 1.8GHZ Cortex A53. The processor when tested stood out to be amazing as it easily carried out multi-tasking, gaming and long hour working with phone very easily. The graphics of the phone is also very impressive which when playing games kept the game quality in its prime form but it degraded a bit when we switched to heavy and big games. The phone shows some fraction of heating but not something very noticing. The RAM size of the phone is one of the most prominent feature of the phone which is attracting lots of attention which is of 6GB and very rare to find in such range. The RAM works in perfect synchrony with the processor keeping the phone very stable while performing any tasks. The 128GB ROM of the phone is surely buying lots of attention as such storage capacity is not seen till now in any other phones of similar range. The effect of powerful RAM and processor can be easily felt through the smooth interface experience while using the phone.

Cameras

Tecno Phantom 9 is a treat for selfie lovers and for people who likes to have crystal clear, detailed images and that too in affordable price range. The main highlight of the Tecno Phantom 9 is the camera of the phone especially the triple rear camera sensors. Though not proclaimed as camera centric phone but, the new Tecno Phantom

9 is one of those only with amazing camera ability. The primary sensor of the rear camera is of 16MP with an aperture of f/1.8 and PDAF, the secondary sensor is of 8MP with an aperture of f/2.4 which comes into play when you switch to ultra wide mode, the tertiary sensor is of 2 MP with an aperture of f/2.8 which acts as depth sensor. The rear camera sensors are truly amazing and the images captured were brilliant with all details and proper colour saturation which just adds to the crispiness of the images. The AI mode is also there which you can choose for automatic beautification. There are various other modes available as well like Portrait mode, HDR, Bokeh, AR etc. One good aspect of the images captured when zoomed in doesn’t show any kind of break in resolution which is like icing on top for new Tecno Phantom 9. The night shots captured were equivalently detailed, clear with proper colors intact. The break in quality and graining kicks in when you increase the resolution at night. The selfie camera is the perfect pick for selfie lovers plus the cool designed front LED flashes adds more adrenaline rush for the selfie lovers. The selfies captured were brilliant with proper details, colours and impressive clarity. The daylight selfies were amazing and in such price range Tecno Phantom 9 will give tough time for camera centric phones. The dual front LED flashes which are not visible at all comes into play the moment the camera senses lack of light and helps you to capture selfies clearly and accurately in low lighting conditions.

Battery

The new Tecno Phantom 9 draws its power from a powerful battery embedded in it which is non-removable Li-ion 3,500mah battery. The battery is long lasting as we saw while testing the phone as it easily lasted throughout the day with average use like surfing, chatting, playing games and enjoying movies. The charging speed of the phone is normal and takes some hours to fully charge the phone. The lack to Type-c port is quite surprising and its presence could have made the Tecno Phantom 9 a complete package.
