Soundcore motion B
An Amazing Speaker that Defies its Size
Anker subsidiary Soundcore has come up with yet another portable Bluetooth speaker, dubbed the Motion B that sports a simple external design but has plenty of features that will surely draw your attention. It is dust and water resistant, has good battery backup and comes with the Bassup technology. Let’s find out how it performed on different parameters.
Design
The Soundcore Motion B measures 7.5 x 3.2 x 2.6inches, having an elongated rectangular design with curved edges. It weighs just short of one pound and that too because of its practically impressive battery within. You can comfortably carry the Motion B in your travel bag. The speaker is very easy to use which even a child can operate. On top of it are the self-descriptive control buttons- for power on/ off, Bluetooth, play/pause, volume up and down. These buttons are constructed with a tactile design that can easily be navigated in the dark.
There are two separate LED indicators for power and Bluetooth on two sides of the top. Below the device are four pods/stands that hold it firmly on any surface and prevent it from slipping.
The speaker’s internal components are fully protected by an IPX7 waterproof casing. It withstands full immersion in up to 1 metre of water for 30 minutes. It must be noted that IPX7 is one of the highest waterproof ratings. So, don’t worry about taking this device to your bathroom or for the pool party. Since it comes in the shade of black, it looks a little boring.
Performance
The speaker defies its weight and size and plays rather loudly causing no irritation. The booming sound is driven by powerful 12-watt, 1.75-inch dynamic-range neodymium drivers. Not only does Motion B deliver 12W of intense audio power, it is designed to significantly reduce distortion. Even when you push your music to the volume
limit there is zero compromise on clarity or performance. It produces good bass unlike many other portable Bluetooth speakers of even higher range. For deeper bass, the Motion B features Bassup technology which uses a customized digital signal processor to analyze, then enhance your music’s bass frequencies in real time. This audio signal is then turned into intensified sound via state-of-the-art neodymium drivers. Anker seems to have worked hard to reinforce bass performance artificially.
Battery
The battery matters a lot for any portable speaker, to help power those fairly large drivers. The Motion B is powered by a 2,600mah lithium-ion battery. It’s roughly the same battery capacity as many of the smartphones, and provides nearly 12 hours of playtime as claimed by the company. So, if you want to keep dancing, the Motion B can keep playing. In simple words, you can play around 240 songs from a single charge. The battery weight is fairly well distributed across the body of the device.
Connectivity
In terms of connectivity, the Anker Soundcore Motion B supports Bluetooth 4.2, and once linked with the device, it extends wireless range of up to 66 feet with a strengthened connection in an open space. Besides, the speaker is also compatible to Google Assistant and Siri. Although it uses a single microphone, the Motion B is fairly good at listening to your voice through noise.
Conclusion
The all-new Soundcore Motion B speaker produces amazing sound quality for its size, has a nice compact design, 12 hours of battery life, and is dust and waterproof. It easily gets connected to your phone and justifies its price point (i.e. Rs 3,799). I must recommend you to buy this if you are planning to buy a Bluetooth speaker under Rs 6K. ■
