Big Battery, Display at a Budgeted Price

There are many industry players such as Leeco or Mobiistar who entered the Indian smartphone market with a bang but unfortunately couldn’t be in the race for long. Chinese technology company Lenovo’s name has also surfaced in past in the list of these smartphone brands as the company launched its smartphone recently almost after a gap of a year. Closing all the speculations, the company has again hit the Indian market with the launch of three brand new smartphones -- the flagship Lenovo Z6 Pro, Lenovo

K10 Note and A6 Note -- to recreate its magic among the users. The Z6 Pro is priced at Rs 33,999 for 8GB+128GB storage variant. K10 Note comes with a price tag of Rs 13,999 for 4GB+64GB of internal storage option, while the 6GB+128GB comes for Rs 15,999. A6 Note comes with a price tag of Rs 7,999 and is available in black and blue colour options. We reviewed the entry-level smartphone, A6 Note, offered by the company and here’s how it fared. In the box, you will find a mobile phone with inbuilt battery, a charger adapter, USB cable, protective cover, QSG, legal insert and SIM pin.

Design

The smartphone comes in black colour with nonremovable plastic back panel. The shiny black colour makes the device look good but it’s glossy look also makes the entire smudge visible, thanks to its plastic body too. The phone is handy but a little heavy, but you can easily operate the phone with a single hand. The dualcamera setup with flash and a fingerprint sensor is placed at the rear. Volume and power keys are placed on the right edge, a 3.5mm headphone jack on the top edge, micro USB port and speaker at the bottom and dual-sim tray on the left edge. Overall, the design is great but the smudge doesn’t look good in it.

Display

The Lenovo A6 Note gets

a large 6.9-inch LCD with a resolution of 720 x1520 pixels in the 19.5:9 aspect ratio. The panel also gets a waterdrop style notch at the top where the front-facing camera housed. It has a big display with thin bezels, which is surely a treat for your eyes as it offers an amazing viewing experience. The screen clarity is good. However, you may need to focus on your screen a bit if you are using the smartphone under direct sunlight.

Camera

On the camera front, the smartphone sports a dual rear camera setup, 13MP (f/2.0) + 2MP sensors, at the back. We clicked a few pictures from the rear sensor of the smartphone that delivered beautiful images under bright light conditions. The flash also helped us to get some decent pictures in low light conditions. The 5MP selfie shooter also managed to get us decent pictures. If you want to beautify your pictures, the camera app also has Beauty Mode that we found it to be good as it makes your picture better without adding much whiteness into it. The entry-level smartphone also supports Face Detection and high dynamic range (HDR) imaging. We expected the camera setup to be better, however, looking at its price point we can’t expect much. However, at this price point, Infinix Hot 8 offers triple camera rear setup.

Platform

In terms of performance, we didn’t find any lag while using the device that is powered by 2.0GHZ octa-core Mediatek Helio P22 SOC coupled with 3GB RAM and 32GB internal memory. The internal memory can be expanded up to 256GB via microsd card. It runs Android 9.0 (Pie) OS. We played some online games, video streaming, etc but there were no complaints of overheating or any such lag. The smartphone doesn’t support face unlock feature, but the fingerprint sensor is fast. Connectivity options include dual-sim support, 3G Capability, 4G Capability, Wi-fi Capability, Wi-fi Hotspot, Bluetooth, NFC, GPS, VOLTE.

Battery

The smartphone houses a massive 4,000mah battery, which is a good deal as we believe that smartphones are no more limited to only making calls. On our usage that included 3G connectivity, video streaming, light games, the massive battery lasted around a day on a single charge. The battery department is surely one of the main USP of the device.

Conclusion

The Lenovo A6 Note with a big screen, a massive battery performed well in our test. However, we are little dissatisfied with the camera department as well as the visibility of smudge on the back panel. Priced at Rs 7,999, the smartphone gives a direct competition to the recently launched Infinix Hot 8, Moto e6s and Realme 3i.
