French audio brand Zoook has expanded its Thunder series with the launch of Zb-rocker Thunder Plus speaker in India. The portable entertainment party speaker sports dual high-performance drivers enabling a 40W sound output. Complementing the audio performance are the dazzling DJ lights. The speaker comes in Black colour and is priced at Rs 4,180. Let’s find out how it performed on different parameters in our review.
Design
The Zoook Zb-rocker Thunder Plus weighs 3.2 kg and has a dimension of 75 x 32 x 32 cm. Its body consists of a good-quality plastic. The control buttons – play/pause and forward/backward – are placed on the top of the speaker. The speaker features an On/off switch on the top to control multi-colour racing lights while the music plays. There is also an LED display on the top that indicates volume and platform while playing music. The included wireless microphone with its sound makes the Zb-rocker Thunder Plus the perfect companion for karaoke performances. The speaker also sports a USB reader and TF card slot on the top to play MP3 music files or plug-in any device via Aux. It features dual high-performance drivers enabling an impressive 40W sound output. There are two handles on the top to carry the speaker from one place to the other. The Zb-rocker Thunder Plus is also bundled with a remote for ease of use and convenience. Although it looks a bit bulky, the speaker is lightweight and can easily be carried.
Functionalities and Connectivity
The wireless speaker comes equipped with a built-in FM receiver and easily gets connected to Bluetooth-enabled devices including Apple’s iphone and ipod and most Android devices and other smart devices for simple wireless audio streaming. It offers a connectivity range of 10m and beyond that the sound breaks up. Additional features on the board include Radio and remote control. The remote control lets you adjust important settings according to your preferences. With built in FM Radio, you can comfortably tune to the world of music. There’s no difficulty in connecting the speaker with external devices i.e. USB and
SD card. You can also manually operate the speaker by regulating the control buttons on the top.
Performance
The Zoook Zb-rocker Thunder
Plus delivers a good combination of bass and treble that gives a theatre like experience at home. Besides offering a unique and amazing audio experience indoors, they give a beautiful look to the room or hall where they are placed. If you love listening to music or partying at the rooftop or the terrace of your house, it gives a perfect surround sound to uplift your mood. However, considering its size, its bass is not up to the mark. It should have more punch.
Battery
The all-new Zoook speaker is powered by a built-in 4,000mah lithium-ion battery. It provides for extended playback and music streaming of four hours on a full charge which takes around four hours. The battery capacity should have been more, especially considering its size.
Conclusion
This wireless speaker is pretty tailor-made for the needs of music enthusiasts. It’s light in weight and easy to carry from one place to the other. It produces a very clear sound even at the high bass. It’s a good buy at the given price. The speaker could have been better had it also possess a wired connectivity. ■
