As there is an increase in the demand of smartphones in the country, the craze about mobile accessories is also increasing. Consumers are wooing over the customised and designer cases and this way a home-grown start-up called Daily Objects grabbed the opportunity to make a platform for themselves and to share the global art. The mobile accessory brand offers designer and customizable cell phone cases and strives to raise the bar for product design and originality in the country. Using advanced technologies to create products that are as durable as they are delightful, the brand also provides a platform to share global art through quirky merchandises. In a recent interaction of Mymobile with Pankaj Garg, Founder Daily Objects, he shared about the brand’s latest offering of iphone 12 series covers and accessories and how the brand is unique in its own way!
What was the inspiration behind starting your own brand and how has the journey been so far? In 2009, I quit my job and started Saledekho.com, an online marketplace for retailers, offering discounts and potential customers to find out about deals. In 2010, pivoted realizing that people were also keen to order online. It was still the early years of e-commerce in India and the ecosystem for selling online was nascent. Yet, we decided to give it a shot and started a venture called Lootspot and sold cameras and mobiles on a group discount site. In 2012, Mumbai-based Seedfund invested in the company and changed the brand name to Dailyobjects as it offered products that one used every day.
Since then Dailyobjects is known a contemporary, homegrown online lifestyle D2C brand. We aim to provide delightful and inspiring products for the possibilities of every-day.
The journey so far has been gratifying and the
plan is to keep devoting ourselves to creating a culture of quality service by providing delightful and quality unique products, while pursuing consumer satisfaction as our primary goal. Dailyobjects is one of the
best performers in the online Industry with 10X returns by generating total revenue of Rs 120 cr+ with only Rs 12 crore raised money.
Since the last 2.5 years, our focus has been on building on our fundamentals for sustainable business and in creating value over volume. Through all our efforts, we have remained cash flow positive for over 30 months now including the high Covidimpact months of the first business quarter from 2020 by relying on innovation and swift action to respond to newly created needs in the market.
What is the USP of Daily Objects? Dailyobjects is a design obsessed brand, and our focus is to deliver the best-designed functional products in India. Our constant endeavour is to remain agile and evolve our brand in response to changing consumer aspirations, markets etc.
Daily Objects introduced the iphone 12 cases and privacy screen guards almost around the same time
that Apple did the launch for iphone 12. How did you manage to pull this off?
We sign a NDA with all our trade and channel partners and won’t be able divulge information.
However, Daily Objects has always been passionate about Apple and its products and keep a close eye on the launches that Apple plans which helps us in our aim to deliver the best of best products to our consumers.
Tell us about the new iphone 12 cases and privacy friendly “anti-peak” screen guard. What is so unique about them? Daily Objects’ new protective range of iphone 12 series cases combine the two most sought after features in phone cases - multi-layered protection and elegant designs. The new design provides advanced drop protection using Air Cushion technology to provide extra-coverage around the edges. The case will also come with raised rim, recessed back and anti-slip grip to provide 360 degree protection in sleek, low-profile cases. The new iphone cases have been developed after extensive testing and prototyping for durability, while being mindful of the design language that makes the encased device look chic.
In addition to the premium cases, Daily Objects is bringing a privacy friendly “antipeak” screen guard. This screen guard will prioritize screen visibility towards the owner and restrict it from other angles to maintain the privacy of the data. The Privacy Glass Screen Protector is equipped with a filter that allows light to pass only through acute front angles, blocking the view of people from the side. Gives the user control of their smartphone’s content and choice to share what they want.
What’s next for Daily Objects? Product launch: We have interesting product launches lined up for the next 3-4 months including some exclusive patent design/tech launches and our broad focus is going to be on homeoffice and lifestyle products.
Apple Store/other premier lifestyle store: Launching products at premium offline and online stores.
International: Product placement in offline stores and more partnership with local dealers. Collaboration: Collaboration with brands to launch curated/targeted product lines. ■
